Draft One Done-ish!

Enjoy the script (the first two out of three scenes) for Yejin and I's so far untitled project!
We need to script the ending scene, if Yejin agrees I really want to end the film in the hight of the conflict with no resolution but we shall see!  But anyways... voila!

[OTHER POSSIBLE SCENE]

SIBLING
WHEN ARE YOU GONNA GIVE IT TO THEM?

KID

SIBLING
I DON’T KNOW MONKEY… LETTING YOU GO ALL THE WAY THERE ALL ALONE? That's a bit of a journey

KID

KID
OKAY

SIBLING ATTEMPTS TO POUR AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF FOOD IN BOTH BOWLS AND STARES A LITTLE BIT AT THEM. THEN THEY MAKE SURE THE ONE FOR THEIR YOUNGER SIBLING HAS MORE THAN THEIRS AND BRINGS IT TO THEIR TABLE FOR THEM TO EAT.

LITTLE MONTAGE OF THEM WRAPPING THE PRESENT USING NEWSPAPER, COLORING IT AND STUFF, AND USING AN OLD SHOELACE TO TIE A RIBBON ONTO IT. PUTTING ON SIBLINGS COLOGNE OR PERFUME ON WHICHEVER.

SHOT OF FINISHED BOWL THEN HAVE A GRAPHIC MATCH WITH THE EMPTY BOWL AND A FULL ONE OF FOOD AT THE PARTY WITH KIDS GRABBING CANDY FROM IT

Sibling Dynamics

In this instance, the option of gender within the sibling dynamic in Yejin and I's untitled short film cannot be chosen simply due to not having many options for actors but we still feel as though we should base the characters off of iconic sibling duos in order to portray the exact relationship we want to the audience so here is my preferred examples!

Thor & Loki
Brothers with different blood but brothers all the same. Their relationship has grown complicated but the glorious early days of their brotherhood always make me smile (and the ending of thier relationship in 'Ragnarok'). They care about each other, clearly, and that sometimes comes in conflict with their own personal ambitions. While they often find each other on opposing paths, we hope that they continue to retain that love for one another.

Drake and Josh
These two have been immortalized in gifs and memes all across the internet. While they aren’t blood-related, they have demonstrated time and time again that they don’t need to share any blood to love each other. Drake and Josh will always be a brotherhood you can aspire to (even if they were pretty dysfunctional).

Katniss and Prim
These sisters have shown us the meaning of loyalty and love. Katniss’s unwavering courage when it comes to Prim always shines through like the heart of all her actions. Everything she does is for her! It’s never been about the boys, it’s always been about Prim. And that has moved us. Excuse me, just gotta wipe a tear.

For the sibling basis within the untitled short film, I want these two characters to have a mix of all these qualities within their dialogue and interactions with each other. In my opinion, these sibling relationships are some of the best within the media, growing in audience love every generation, which is exactly how I want the audience to feel about my own characters.

Story Time!

For this year's portfolio project my partner Yejin and I decided on taking on the short film option! To be honest I was leaning more towards the Documentary because of my own personal bias and love of learning people's stories, although I also think it's good to step out of my comfort zone and explore what I'm capable of.
The story we're planning to use came from an old google doc of film ideas I created sometime last year after the film opening project was concluded.

Heres a summary of what that doc said and my current interpretation
Me Then: OMG, I HAVE AN IDEA! ITS GOING TO FEATURE A CHILD AND AN OLDER SIBLING!
Me Now: Wait where are we going to get a child?
Me Then: WE CAN FILM IN AN RUN DOWN APARTMENT!
Me Now: Where are we going to find that kind of living situation, in high to middle-class Weston
Me Then: WYNWOOD WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THE OPENING SCENE!
Me Now: I have no car, neither does Yejin and knowing our parents that's gonna be a no
Me Then: DEAD MOTHER
Me Now: Okay that we can work with

Okay now that you've been in my head here are some of the ACTUAL plot ideas that still need a lot of logistical tweaking

The film is going to feature two siblings, one old enough to be mature in taking care of someone sufficiently but not a technical adult yet, and their younger sibling HOPEFULLY between the ages of 6 and 12.
They have no parental figure-as both are gone within their life, the mother is dead and the dad isn't in the picture.
They are insufficient in funds as the child is too young to work and the older sibling does what they can to scrape on by, due to this the child has learned to steal in order to survive socially (because kids are MEAN). This learned process of stealing causes the main conflict within the plot... should I tell you the dilemma or should I have you anxiously wait... hmmmmmmm... we'll see.
Come on by next week to see the ENTIRE plot :)

I've Changed... A Lot

Last year throughout the process of creating my film opening I always felt as though I needed to prove something with what I wanted to create. Developing complex storylines with incomprehensible lore to seem elite in my understanding of the media world and my interpretation of such.
Don't get me wrong I still often have the tendency to make every theme super complex and add some kind of moral spin to the equation of my process, but I feel as though I've learned a lot throughout summer break and starting properly creating again in my AICE Media class.

Things to remember for this year's portfolio project
- Take others advice ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE IT SIMPLER
I know you can be super ambitious in shot planning but sadly a crane is not at your disposal as of yet

- Tripple check audio (my mortal enemy)

- LIGHTING, LIGHTING, LIGHTING!!
In order to properly color correct and saturate scenes, you need proper lighting

- Get opinions on the spot about the angle of the shot, you're not the only one who knows things

- MANAGE YOUR TIME BETTER
I know you have a lot going on but this year you're not by yourself you're working with a partner so keep in touch and keep them updated on what's going on

- Never settle for a bad quality shot or piece of audio just because of time, if you can fix it, do it

Overall I'm really excited for this year's project and I'll keep you updated on all my issues
(trust me I'll have a few)

Planning, Planning, Pl a..nn...i n g

Filming is one of my biggest passions throughout life, but I've also realized I'm a very ambitious individual which I will never take full credit for and purely blame on my astrology chart.
(Here is my Astrology chart for reference and a little more insight to who I am and why I act the way I do)

So there's your evidence if you're able to interpret it or are even willing to for that matter, but why do I bring this up? Why are the stars important in this discussion?
Well due to me having a large multiplicity of passions and interests I take up a lot of activities inside and outside of school, I'm a leader that can't say no to people when regarding my professional life (imagine that).

Here is my typical schedule for every week
-Monday:
EOW Attend Philosophy Honors Society after school till 4 pm (I'm the Secretary+Treasurer)
EOW Attend Art Honors Society till 4 pm

-Tuesday:
Work at Sunserve Youth from 5-10 pm (President of Youth Leadership Council)

-Wednesday:
Attend H.O.P.E after school till 4 pm (I'm the Treasurer)

-Thursday:
Attend GSA after school till 4 pm (I'm the President)
EOW work at Planned Parenthood from 5-8

-Friday:
N/A thank goodness

-Saturday:
General meetings for work- times and what job its for vary

-Sunday:
Work at NVEEE from 11-5 pm

SO... as you can see I'm a very busy individual- plus this doesn't even account for my large amount of work events, other meetings, homework, and doctors' appointments which im quite frequent of. PLUS I will be gone from April 9th-13th so Yejin and I have discussed the need to finish the project completely before my absence as I will be in New York visiting my future Uni.
It's going to be a strenuous process for both Yejin and I but all I want is to make one last thing in High school that I'm proud of so stay tuned for our official schedule to be released.

EOW- Every other week
